2007 Winter Solstice Production Celebrates Northlands Traditions

Revels North is pleased to announce that the 2007 Winter Solstice production, focused on the folk music, dance, and tales of the Northlands (that region of Europe stretching from Iceland, across Scandinavia, to Karelia, in northwest Russia) was celebrated December 13 - 16, and a wonderous time was enjoyed by all who were able to brave the weather.

Guest Artists

Sattuma PR photoWe were especially excited to have with us as guest artists Sattuma, the multi- generational folk quartet from Karelia. The group consists of Arto Rinne and Dmitry ("Dima") Demin, and Arto's daughter Eila and Dima's son Vladik. They perform on an amazing number of instruments, several of Dima's own manufacture.

Also appearing was Grammy-nominated Loretta Kelley, hardanger fiddle player from the Washington, DC area, nyckelharpa players Leif Alpsjö and Matt Fichtenbam, and Jane and Sophie Orzechowski of the Sugar River String Band. In addition, we feature a return of the Norweigian dancers Karin Brennesvik, Tom Løvli, and Sigbjørn Rua.

Heart of NH Magazine & Revels North Join Forces

Heart of NH magazine and Revels North are joining in a unique sponsorship
agreement that will help promote not only The Christmas Revels performances but also the Upper Valley as a holiday destination.

"We're very excited about this collaboration," said Wayne King, the magazine's publisher. " Heart of New Hampshire Magazine, now read by over 250,000 people quarterly, will feature a Holiday Planning section in their fall issue with a story about the Christmas Revels as a centerpiece.

"Among the distinguishing features of Heart are our outstanding photography
and interesting content. A feature story on the Revels is a perfect fit for us."

"Revels is one of the most colorful and unique productions anywhere in the Northeast every year and we're excited to be able to bring that story to our readers," said Craig Wilkins, Heart of NH representative for the project.
